    Best posole in town!!!!!

  • *****

The food was fantastic! The best steak and enchiladas I have ever had. Great service and people very friendly I highly recommend going there.

  • *****

Excellent service and food; extremely reasonable prices. I had the Navajo taco with red chile, and the red chile is amazing! Yes, the location isn't the fanciest, but who cares? It's part of the friendly ambiance, and the food is what matters anyway. Really really good, straightforward food. We were there for a late lunch on a Friday, and the place was lively and almost full, but our food still came quickly and with plenty of attention from the staff. Also, the full menu was available, including breakfast. Can't wait to return and try something else on the menu.

I tried this restaurant out with my husband because we were told that had really good food. I have no problem with this food, it was the service. Our waitress took our order rushed us through our order. And then never delivered all of our food to us. And then never came back to ask us how anything was or even give us refills. Another young lady gave us refills and also packaged up a piece of cake for us to go because our waitress never ever came back. I understand people have bad days so I still give them four stars due to the fact that their food was very good.

    Amazing food and services

Being new in town, our realtor recommended this place.
    The food is unbelievably good.
    The service was outstanding.
Have eaten there several times and used takeout!
    Love this place.

We time our trips to or through Santa Fe to make sure we can eat here! Enchiladas are to die for... both green & red sauce are spectacularly spicy & the giant sopapillas help tame the fire in our mouths. Chanced upon this place years ago, & we might have passed it by, as it doesn't look like much from the street. Lucky us!

  • *****

The chile cheese fries are amazing. Always get great service here.

  • *****

Delicious Mexican food! We come to Santa Fe every year and we make it a point to eat at Los Amigos. Their food is spicy and tastes homemade. They consistently deliver wonderful food!

  • *****

Tried this place for the first time today. Good food, great service and great prices! The salsa and chips were very yummy. I had the chicken tacos then tried a pork tamale. Very tasty. The Spanish rice is awesome too. So far it's the best Mexican food since we moved to Santa Fe in January 2018.

  • *****

Ho hum, just another family friendly New Mexican restaurant with great food and great prices. One of the few places in town that offers a free basket of chips and salsa. The salsa was spicy, addictive and delicious. The patty melt was really, really good. Served with homemade onion rings, the perfectly cooked, tenderized patty was served on gorgeous marbled rye bread. Also the platter of sizzling fajitas is seriously impressive for $16. Service was good and friendly. Will return.

  • *****

This is the best food in Santa Fe.
    Always consistent.
Staff is always great. Super friendly, and on top of it.
    Always feels like home.
If you want a perfect Santa Fe meal, look no further.

    Great food!
    Great service!

My wife and I visit Los Amigos regularly, except that they have been closed lately for remodeling. We are anxious to go back, tonight probably. The food is very good and the service is usually fast, always friendly! I like the enchiladas and my wife's favorite is the chile relleno plate, which I agree is one of the best in SF. The prices are very reasonable, the food is true Northern New Mexican. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. Great place.

  • *****

Very good food and great price. They were closed for quite some time so we had to wait several months to try, but so glad we finally got to go. Love the chips and salsa there and my plate was just as good.

  • *****

I was scared for a while that this may not reopen due to the prolonged remodel, but it was all well worth the wait. The food is still amazing and the service is quick. Rudy's staff is a well-oiled machine and I have so much respect for him always chipping in wherever necessary to keep the food coming out, tables clean and customers happy. These people work hard and the food is terrific. Just a wonderful environment all around.

    great food, very good prices

I love this place anytime but especially for breakfast. Their Buenos Dias is a perfect start to the day. The one egg is usually enough but some may be extra hungry that the two egg is the way to go. Couple it with a side of bacon and you're good to go. The dish consists of potatoes on the bottom covered with chile and cheese and then it is topped with the egg(s). The chile is sooo good! For other times of the day almost anything is good. A real treat is the Navajo Taco. It's pretty big but worth a try. If you're not in the mood for chile I have tried the patty melt and really enjoyed it. (Of course I had to have it with green chile one time
and it was terrific.) Great friendly staff and just a chill, laid back place. The restaurant is neat and clean and just down home. I believe it is a sister restaurant to the Pantry so the feel is much like the Pantry.

This is my first visit to Los Amigos. I went with several of my co-workers for lunch. The thing that impressed me first was the restaurant is separated into three main sections. The first two were very nice. We sat in the third section, furthest from the door, nearest the road. Our table was a white folding table and our chairs were white folding chairs. I wasn't impress with that, but perhaps that was due to our being a large party so it is probably the best they could do, under the circumstances. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt in this case. The other sections looked much nicer.

I had the Carne Adovada Platter which came with pinto beans and Spanish rice. It was delicious! The free chips and salsa were great.

My dish didn't come with a sopapilla, but one of my co-workers did. There are three things that impressed me about Los Amigos' sopa's. (a) they are the largest sopapillas I have EVER seen! (b) They had the thinnest dough of any sopa I've ever seen. I have no idea how they achieved that, but its quite an accomplishment. (c) They were the most bland tasting sopa's I ever tasted. (My co-worker allowed me a taste.)

Even those I had some drawbacks, because of the quality of the food I believe this to be a really good restaurant. Well worth your time to visit.

Great steak and red enchilada plate.

  • *****

Great food and great family atmosphere. I love their chips and salsa. I always order the tamales, as they are awesome.

  • *****

always good! great service. The food tastes like they care, not just rolling out tasteless food! Always a go-to for our family.

  • *****

One of the Best in Santa Fe. Great red chile

  • *****

Reliable friendly quick good prices... one of our SF favorites

  • *****

i have to admit, this is maybe my favorite green chile so far

they have a really nice little beer garden and excellent service.

ive only had the tacos, and they were above average... the menu is really big, i will be back and keep yelp posted.

  • *****

Good new mexican food at a good price. I hit this place about once every two weeks. I love their combo platter relleno, taco, tamale and an enchilada, way too much food but it is good. Breakfast is solid as well. Entree portions are good to a bit large, desert portions are insanely large. Avoid the margaritas they are made from Agave wine and are not a real margarita.

  • *****

Had the Tres Amigos Enchiladas with green chile - delicious. I'm not a New Mexican food expert but I found it delicious and reasonably priced. The one down side is it's a bit of a drive from the Plaza, but worth it. I got it to go but the service was good as far as I could tell.

  • *****

I have to admit that I ate here once before and wasn't too impressed, but I was talked into going here again today and I'm now a fan. First off, Los Amigos has better service than when they first opened, so that is good.
Second, they have free wireless, so I could connect to the internet after asking for the WiFi key.
Third, the food serving I got was massive! I ordered the breakfast sandwich; eggs, potatoes, green chile, and bacon enfolded in a tortilla. I was expecting about half the food that I received, and it was impressive. I'm looking at the leftovers now. What a great deal!
Another plus is that Los Amigos serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner at all hours of the day! I'm a huge breakfast fan, and I'm constantly griping when a local restaurant doesn't serve breakfast after 11:00... Since I rarely am awake before noon, this has caused problems with me in the past.
I also like the daily specials that they had posted. I'm going to go back there often!

  • *****

Los Amigos is by far my favorite New Mexican restaurant in Santa Fe. The food is consistently delicious, the service is sweet and attentive, and the ambiance is homey and welcoming. My boyfriend and I eat in or get take-out from here whenever we're craving some local comfort food.

The Tres Amigos enchilada plate and the veggie sausage breakfast burrito are two of my favorites. Try both their red and their green chile. Both are great.

    Highly recommend it.

  • *****

Great food, portions, portions, portions. They have great service and pricing. Their food quality is awesome as well as their reputation for Mexican food.

  • *****

Outstanding place. I know this place is owned by the same people as the Pantry and Flying Tortilla, and I'd probably not come here for breakfast (I enjoy the ambience of the other two restaurants), this place is perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. The green chile is outstanding here and I had it on my cheese enchs. Superb. The rice could use some work, though, as do most of the restaurants here in Santa Fe.

My partner had menudo and she said it's one of the best she's tasted in Santa Fe. She grew up eating menudo so that's pretty meaningful.

The sopapillas were fantastic too- perfectly fried and soft. Mmm!

Wish they would improve their selection of beer, though.

  • *****

Chile Rellenos with green chile sauce were delicious. The beans were great. The price was very reasonable.

  • *****

Very, very good. This is one of my favorite places to eat when I'm in Santa Fe. I have loved everything that I've ever eaten here. I tend to stay with green chile, rather than red chile, and their green chile is amazing.

  • *****

Breakfast, lunch or dinner, it's a good place to go. The service is top notch and every thing I've tried from the menu is tasty, cooked to order and a pleasure to eat. I especially like their green chili stew. The "weekends only" menudo is some of the best around, tender and tasty with just enough red chili and posole. The atmosphere is pleasant and everything is clean and neat. They have some useful options on the very diverse menu. If you seem occasionally challenged by extra large portions they will bring you less. Red or green or Christmas are also mentioned. A very nice change of pace from the other two good local places and well worth it.

  • *****

Awesome Food and Service! What we liked most about the service is every one of the servers helped out the next.....they were exemplary team players and they seemed to having a good time doing it....and they were busy.

Food was as good as the service. I had the steak over stacked enchiladas and both were cooked to perfection. And who doesn't love getting sopapillas with your meal. We saved them for our dessert. The green chili stew was also great....with just the right amount of heat.
On Sundays from 4pm to 8pm they offer a 15% discount for Seniors! NICE!

  • *****

From the parking lot, there were 3-doors. The first was an obvious non-entrance with boxes piled by the door, the second was not so easy to tell and since it was locked, I kept trying. On the third try, I finally got in. Nice comfortable restaurant, though not fancy (vinyl table clothes and banquet stacking chairs). Tastefully decorated and friendly and attentive service. Big food and good prices. I got the veggie sausage burrito and it was good and filling! Will surely go again.

In every new place it's important to identify a good Mex takeout place near our home. Last night we decided it was time to embark on our journey so I picked up two items from here:

    Quesadilla- $8
Tamale Plate $8.50 - Pork tamales with green chile.

When I called I explained that I wanted something that wouldn't be soggy by the time I got it home and they kindly offered to put the sauces on the side. I also explained that I don't eat meat and they suggested the quesa. (OH NO, I thought, cheese is always the suggestion when I say I'm veg. ) Happy to report that they know what they're doing with their quesas!

The quesadilla was AWESOME- real government cheese, mildly spicy roasted chiles (the kind that creep up on you) and lots of sour cream, tomatoes, and guac. Total bargain for $8.

Hubby reports that his tamales were very tasty, spiced just right, and filling with sides of pinto beans and rice. I asked if he'd go back and he said YES definitely, especially if they make good Margs.

When I went to pick up our food I was pleasantly surprised at how cosy the inside of this unassuming restaurant was and look forward to dining here soon. Good find, great price, very nice service.

  • *****

Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, good food. Casual environment. They have good daily specials from time to time. I get the impression that this is a family owned business.

  • *****

    Mmm delish!
So, if you are a hungry bunny order the chicken fried steak with cream or brown gravy, 2 fried eggs on top and sides. You can order refritos instead of ranchero beans and they are good.
Lovely local restaurant - great service - great food !

We arrived at Los Amigos around 4:30 PM. We were seated immediately and drinks ordered. They were promptly brought to us. It looked as though this was a shift change and 20 minutes passed before someone came to take our order. Our order of enchiladas and carne ado ads came promptly. The food was warm and flavorful. The beams were firm but not hard. All was scrumptious...well worth waiting for. We took a piece of their four layer carrot cake home for dessert. The piece of cake was huge - sweet, moist and not buried in frosting. Yum!

  • *****

Love this place! We eat here often as its close to our home. Servers are always really nice and accommodating and their food is really good! Best steak and enchilada plate in town hands down. Recently, we ordered a slice of carrot cake to go and the slice was enormous - like it could feed 3 people enormous. And it was super moist and delicious. Funky little place, but reasonably priced with some delicious food.

  • *****

Just don't understand why there aren't more reviews on the place. Food is great, and reasonably priced.
We always have the burrito Christmas, either chicken or carne adovado. You can get two different sizes in the burrito, so if you aren't a big eater, try the smaller size. Great pinto beans and rice accompany the burrito. These are not refried beans, bur whole. You ask nice, they might put some of the red or green on the beans. The rice has a very good flavor, not too spicey, but compliments the burrito. Also get a sopapilla. These are the biggest I've seen, flaky, hot, tasty, and waiting for all the honey. You can get by here for under $10 person. They have a liquor license, so if you want a margarita, it's available.
Nice small place, but ample seating, a small patio on the back, but it is right on Rodeo even though there is a fence.

  • *****

Great food but wait staff is a little lacking. Chips and salsa suck, but the entree's are good and breakfast is delicious. Prices a good ...

  • *****

This place was really crowded on a weekend so be prepared to wait.
The food was good and the service was fast.

  • *****

Very good food. I ordered the beef sopapilla in red chile sauce. My wife had the Carne avivado. My sopapilla was served hot and was very tasty. The rice and beans were on point. The salsa they served with the chips was excellent. Speedy service and cheap. Watch out, it is a bit spicy. My wife had some trouble with the heat.

  • *****

Our 4th visit to Los Amigos. This time I had the pork Carne Adovada cooked in their red sauce. It was smokin' hot!! The flavor was excellent as well. The pork was mostly tender though a few pieces were a little tough. Warning: do not get this platter unless you can handle really hot food! It was served with Spanish rice and pinto beans, both quite good. I also had the lime margarita on the rocks - unfortunately it was not mixed properly. It tasted more like just Triple Sec with only minimal tequila. Avoid the margarita.

Bro J and TT arrived on Friday and we headed to La Choza without reservations. When we learned of the one hour wait, we got back in the car and headed for Caf Castro. Hmmmmm, closed since last year, so Yelp helped us find Los Amigos, a little off the path beaten by the tourists. It is well rated without having 200 reviews which I always find promising. From the outside, it is deceiving. It is not all lit up and is not on a main street where a lot of people would drive by and just say, "Hey, there is a place, let's try it". Yet they were full with a 15 minute wait, which tells me they have a loyal local clientele.

The salsa would not be a reason to go here, it is pretty much sweet, tomato puree, but then I never go somewhere for chips and salsa, so that was a throwaway. On the other hand, Bro J's carne adovada was remarkable, nearly the best of the trip so far out of 3-4 places. This is about the richest carne adovada can be without being too much so. Absolutely delicious with tender, moist well cooked pork. This put Maria's in perspective. Get your red chile fix here.

I ordered a big bowl of pork and green chile stew. It is a brothy style, with largish chunks of pork and potato. It did not have a ton of green chile, but it was really good, a homemade style. I dressed it with a squeeze of lime and a dash of salt and it was perfect.

TT had her usual chilles rellenos. The red chile she had on top that was extremely rich, like the adobo on the carne. Bro J's side of posole stayed with the rich red theme. This is not soup. It had large chunks of very good pork and not so much corn. The style is redder, richer and thicker than typical. Very good.

On the slight downside, the frijoles are pintos, served whole (which is good) but I thought they needed a little salt and somehow they were a little sweet. The rice was the plastic pellet kind, like Maria's and pretty tasteless. So far we are 0 for 3 on rice this trip.

In summary, this is a great, home style place. You will enjoy excellent carne adovada or pork and green chile stew. Our service was excellent and the prices are reasonable. You can expect to wait a little but it is worth it.

  • *****

Fabulous food, great service. The wine margaritas are to die for. Look no further. Then do desert.

  • *****

Outstanding service. Excellent food. Reasonable prices. The green chile bacon cheeseburger that's usually the lunch special is awesome!

  • *****

My wife and I found this restaurant using Google. It is out of the way behind a gas station but the food is excellent - one of the best Mexican or tex-mex restaurants, in my experience, in our country. Then at a moderate price point, what is there not to like? Great food, moderate price point, wonderful real people , friendly atmosphere and a real cafe. This is what Santa Fe use to be in the 1960s. The Plaza has a lot of history but is too popular and the food, La Fonda Hotel is an exception, mediocre and expensive. So have a watered down drink at a popular restaurants overlooking the Plaza but then head to Los Amigos - it is easy to miss so look for it. If you like real elegance, then go to the La Fonda but you will pay for it.

  • *****

    Great locals type restaurant.

  • *****

Loved the atmosphere. Get place for a casual date or family dinner. Food is excellent; although if your not use to the green chile heat you should ask for it on the side. Really good green chile

  • *****

Genuine New Mexican food. One of the best!

  • *****

Always great service and great food.

  • *****

Neighborhood restaurant. Great food. Best service. I eat there at least once a week. A+

  • *****

Stop in for some great Mexican food at this cozy restaurant if you're visiting Santa Fe.

  • *****

Nondescript from outside, but quite nicely put together inside. We had various items including Chili Relleno, Taco, Enchillada and Tamale; not to mention free chips and salsa. Food was quite good and so was the service.

  • *****

Amazing food, fast and friendly service, reasonable prices

  • *****

People and food was superb. Very clean and the real deal . We will be back again before we leave Santa Fe.

  • *****

If you are new in town or traveled to our lovely city, this is where the locals eat. They might not be downtown with the "world famous" blah blah blah, but they have the best selection of both red and green chile dishes. They also do american food very well. One of my favorite dishes is the chicken fried steak. They also have the best service in town, I have never once sat there with an empty drink for more then 30 secs. If you are in a hurry this is great place since the food flies out of the kitchen.

  • *****

They have the best green chile burger. By far one of the best in Santa Fe. They serve a variety of traditional New Mexican food. I will definitely be back.

  • *****

A bit crowded sometimes but that's because its good food

  • *****

This was hands down by far the best Mexican food I have ever had in my entire life. Better than California. Better than Texas. Better than even my Abuela-in-law has ever made.

  • *****

So good!! We split the beef fajitas and the Mexican Platter and were VERY happy with both. The house made salsa had a nice kick to it and the green sauce on the enchiladas was flavorful. Service was friendly and fast, would definitely recommend!

  • *****

Had the green chili cheeseburger special, mmmmmm yeah ! This is authentic NM food here. Great service, great food. Dcor needs updated desperately though.

  • *****

I recently went to a couple of the highest rated mexican restaurants around in Santa Fe, and got to try a majority of their food.

Carne advova- The taste portions and tenderness is excellent. Definitely recommend this here

    Chips - average chips, free

Sopapilla- this sopapilla is the best I've had in Santa fe. We ordered it on the side after everything was done and it came out crispy and huge

Ribeye Steak- Quite good, original taste, no need for steak sauce or anything. Very tender

    Portions: Good sized, decent pricing

Recommend this place over the others: cheaper prices, great sopapilla, free chips, above average everything

  • *****

Had enchiladas and huevos rancheros. The huevos is so good I can say this will be my last meal choice. Had it with green and red chile.chili is kinda spicy but had a great kick to it. We stayed in the best western plus in Santa fe. Came to see the baloon festival2015. This place is 5 minutes from the restaurant and we got take out due to dogs. Will definitely go back. Salsa was amazing.

  • *****

Good food and nice homey atmosphere! They have a sizable menu for the whole family, and prices won't break the bank! Service is quick and the waitstaff is friendly. My visits here have always been positive!

  • *****

Don't let the external appearance detour you. The chips and salsa were good and kept coming, the tamale and enchilada I had were great (glad I got red and not the hotter green sauce), my husband had tacos which were wonderful, rice was light and fluffy and not dried out like we usually experience. Service was almost too good as they were ready to take our order and we hadn't completed looking at their larger than most menu.

  • *****

Los Amigos! My friends! Los Amigos, you will always be my friend. First, you are thriving on Rodeo, where all the box stores haunt you just up the road. But Los Amigos, you keep it real.

I don't mean to brag, but when I came here, I was literally the only gringo in the place. Okay I do mean to brag. I'm not saying that Los Amigos is *authentic* or anything, but it's damn good.

I ordered my usual: Negra Modelo and a plate of chile rellenos, Christmas. The food came out near as quick as the beer, which tells all of us that it's just sitting in big ol pots simmering all evening waiting to be heated up. If that grosses you out, you have never cooked food before. The rellenos weren't amazing, but they were decent.

What WAS amazing were the chiles. The green chiles were good, above average. The RED CHILES WERE HOT HOT HOT and flavorful and delicious! Go here for the red chiles!

Also, be warned. The sopapillas here are bigger than YOUR HAND. If you don't believe me, by the beard of Zeus I curse you. Go to Los Amigos.

  • *****

We decided to check out this place after some one said they had good food. It was a great experience the food and the portions were excellent in my book for the price you payed. Loved the wait staff and how attentive they were. Will definitely go back. Awesome Mexican restaurant.

  • *****

Excellent New Mexican food for (mostly) locals. Easy parking of Rodeo Rd. Service and food are excellent, as is the relaxed atmosphere.

  • *****

We came to the right timing for lunch before the crowd started. The deco is very Santa Fe style and the food is very typical New Mexico where you can get comfort food smothered with green and / or red chiles and cheese. We ordered the Mexico platter, breakfast sandwiches, Huevos Rancheros and side of sopapillas( fried bread). They were greasy-spoon brunch and hit the spot! I was a little bit disappointed about the sopapillas because they didn't turn out the brownish color which was supposed to be. The size of them are bigger than my hand and then I ate it with honey. The service was great and waitstaff were attentive and friendly . Overall, it was good experience and we will be back!

  • *****

Very friendly staff, quick service, great food and not too bad a price. Awesome soapapillas!

  • *****

Our new favorite breakfast place. Great food! Friendly staff! Priced about right. Definitely becoming regulars.

  • *****

Great New Mexican restaurant on Rodeo. Cozy spot with excellent food and GIANT sopapillas. Open for breakfast, too!

  • *****

I love coming here. Free chips and salsa with as many refills as you want. The food is always great as is the service. Great prices for a lot of food.

If you are not in the mood for Spanish food no need to worry. They have burgers, chicken, steak, and other foods that do not contain chile. You can also order your food with chile on the side if you want to add it to your liking.

  • *****

There are Mexican restaurants and then there are Mexican restaurants, los Amigos is definitely at the top of any list!

We arrived in Santa Fe in time for dinner, road buzzed and hungry after the long miles that day. We were greeted with smiles and seated quickly. Our waitress was quick with our water and cerveza order and took our dinner order.

The food arrived quickly and was steaming hot. It was quickly apparent that lots of the ingredients were fresh and locally grown. The flavor was fantastic and bright. The waitress came by several times to fill our drinks and check on how we were doing.

Let's talk about the sopaipa, it was great! Great in flavor, freshness, and size! Served still steaming from the fryer it socks up that honey goodness.

Be good to yourself, stop in and have a great meal!

  • *****

We had a late lunch here last week and enjoyed it very much. We both had the combination plate, me with green chile and my husband had the red. What I especially liked is that the chile is somehow cooked with the food or sauce as opposed to smothering and covering up the plate. Definite heat while eating but did not cause any "reminders" later. Very good salsa, and the staff kept it coming along with chips. Especially good guacamole. Attentive service.
We have been trying new places looking for new favorite Mexican food restaurants, and we will come back to this one.

    Yepp
The authentic Mexican Food is right here at this place, the staff is really friendly as well!!

visiting from Maryland and Thank God I stopped at this place!!!!
